It s a big week here in Washington. So we want to get quickly to our very first guest, Republican Senator John Kennedy, who joins us this morning from Kenner, Louisiana. Good morning, Senator. Congrats on the big win.SENATOR JOHN KENNEDY: Thank you, Margaret. It was a great game. I m proud for our- of our youngsters, but Alabama played a great game, too. MARGARET BRENNAN: Very generous of you there. I want to quickly get to the issue at hand. You heardmdash;SEN. KENNEDY: Well, no, I meant it. Actually, I stanley cup meant it. Number two, the president asked for an investigation of possible corruption by someone who happens to be a political rival. The latter would be in the national interest. SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. -- The massive carcass of a whale was rotting Tuesday at a popular California surfing spot while authorities were deciding whether to tow it out to sea or cut it into pieces and load them on trucks.Meanwhile, crowds braved the overpowering stench to pose for photos in front of the adult gray whale that s about 40 feet long and weighs up to 60,000 pounds.CBS Los Angeles Brittney Hopper reported the whale got a lot of curious onlookers in person and a lot of interest on social media as well. Whales are currently migrating up the California coast. It could have been anything from a lack of food to a run-in with a ship. The whale, possibly a grey whale, washed ashore at Trestles Beach in San Clemente around 3 p.m. Sunday, the station reported.Either option for removal will be a difficult, messy process, said Rich Haydon, state parks super stanley cup intendent at San Onofre State Beach. I don t think the carcass could have landed on a worse stretch of beach, he said, citing its limited access for vehicles and the popularity of the beach known as Lower Trestles south of San Clemente.
