Rep. Henry Waxman D-Calif. announced Monday he will be holding a hearing on the health effects of performance enhancing drugs, just one day before a high profile hearing on steroid use in baseball featuring former New York Yankee pitcher Roger Clemens. Waxman, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, will hold a hearing entitled Myths and Facts about Human Growth Hormone, B 12, and Other Substances on Feb. 12, the day before Clemens, Andy Pettite and other current and former players are set to testify before the committee in a much-publicized hearing on steroid use in major league baseball.Clemens is set to arrive on Capi stanley cup tol Hill on Tuesday to give a transcribed interview to committee investigators about allegations he used steroids. Although Clem stanley us ensrsquo; name appeared in a report on steroid use in baseball prepared by former Sen. George Mitchell D-Maine , the former New York Yankee has denied ever using performance enhancing drugs and insists he will clear his name.
