Attorneys delivered opening statements Thursday in the trial of a South Carolina police officer Michael Slager over the 2015 death of Walter L. Scott, an unarmed black man.On April 4, 2015, the North Charleston ex-patrolman, who stanley cup is white, fatally shot and killed Scott, 50, as he fled a traffic stop over a broken taillight.
